Qualifications:
● Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related Mental Health field
● Must possess an Alaskan Type C license, be a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
● 5 years’ experience in related field(s), preferred
● Experience working with youth in school settings, preferred
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Create an environment of respect and rapport with each student
● Work collaboratively with others
● Establish/maintain relationships with mental health providers to positively impact
students and the district
● Establish a culture for learning about the social-emotional needs of students
within the district and community
● Facilitate behavioral health, mental health, social, and emotional education for
best practices for school staff
● Collaborate with professional development facilitators and mental health program
consultants to arrange observations and mentoring schedules with schools’ leadership and teachers
● Demonstrate and modify appropriate counseling techniques using ASCA standards
● Maintain confidential and accurate records of service
● Participate in analyzing data, tracking progress, and evaluating program services.
● Assist and lead professional development opportunities, including modeling behavioral and mental health best practices and lessons within classrooms
● Support and prepare state and federal reports with the Special Education Director and/or other District Administrators, as needed
● Assist the Special Education Director on special projects, as needed.
● Promote a culture of compassion and care at all times
● Appreciate and find value in cross-cultural, rural Alaskan environments
● Be flexible in work assignments and schedule to best fit students’ needs.
● Manage time and caseloads appropriately to provide the best services possible.
● Be comfortable with or willing to learn the technology utilized within the district, including basic computer skills (Mac or PC), PowerSchool, and Google Drive
● Promote positive public and community relations for the school district
● Must be prompt, dependable, self-disciplined, and work without direct supervision
● Other duties as assigned
