TITLE: Child/Family Development Coordinator; Grade 6, Support Staff Salary Schedule
REPORTS TO: Supervising Site Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associate’s Degree or higher in a field related to child development or mental health
Experience: Prior experience working with students is desirable
Skills: Ability to understand and respond to needs of students, parents and other public as necessary; must demonstrate courtesy, tact and common sense, maintaining a pleasant working relationship with parents and staff; maintain consistent regular attendance; demonstrated ability to use computer technology (i.e., word processing, data entry, email, multiple on-line data base programs).
Knowledge: Understanding of child/adolescent development and basic behavioral psychology specifically in the realm of social, emotional and behavioral development. Understanding of parenting skills related to child/adolescent development A fluent and accurate use of English language both written and oral; competency in mathematics to a high school level; ability to readily read and comprehend information; knowledge of confidentiality laws as they pertain to student information.
Physical Requirements: ● Be able to sit, stand, and walk without fatigue or discomfort ● Be able to lift and carry 25 pounds ● Be able to pull or push 40 pounds
Other: May need to work outside in extremely cold temperatures (to about -50 degrees F) for student supervision purposes.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Responsibilities: The Child/Family Development Coordinator’s purpose is to assist in the health social/emotional, and behavioral growth of students. The Coordinator will be responsible for the delivery of instruction in classrooms related to this area using District adopted curriculum. The coordinator will also be responsible for working with individual and small groups of students who need short term assistance in development of specific social skills areas. The coordinator is also expected to work with parents to increase awareness of child development and improve parent skills.
Note: Under no circumstances is the Child/Family Development Coordinator to provide mental health counseling or advice to students.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Based on negotiated agreement between the Delta/Greely School District Board of Education and the Delta/Greely Education Support Staff Association.
