Position Summary

The Delta/Greely School District is seeking a passionate and skilled K–12 Music Teacher to develop and deliver a comprehensive music program that supports student learning across all grade levels. The successful candidate will foster creativity, musical literacy, and student engagement through high-quality instruction and performance opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate music instruction for students in grades K–12

• Develop and implement a sequential, standards-based music curriculum

• Teach general music, vocal and/or instrumental music, and performance ensembles as assigned

• Prepare students for concerts, performances, and community events

• Assess student progress and provide timely feedback to students and families

• Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment

• Collaborate with administrators, colleagues, and support staff

• Participate in school activities, professional development, and staff meetings

• Maintain accurate records and comply with district policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Valid Alaska Teacher Certificate with a Music endorsement (required)

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field (required)

• Experience teaching multiple grade levels preferred

• Strong classroom management and organizational skills

• Ability to work effectively with students, staff, families, and the community

Preferred Skills and Attributes

• Experience with both vocal and instrumental instruction

• Ability to build and sustain a comprehensive K–12 music program

• Willingness to engage in extracurricular or after-school music activities

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Commitment to student growth and a positive school culture

Work Environment

The Delta/Greely School District serves over 975 students locally and also operates a statewide homeschool program. Located in Delta Junction, approximately 100 miles from Fairbanks, the community offers a supportive, rural setting that is not remote.
