VACANCY NOTICE: 26-27 SCHOOL YEAR

Position: Special Education Teacher

Qualifications: 

• Valid Alaska Type A teaching certificate preferred

• Special Education Endorsement

• Strong background and experience working with students with disabilities

• Ability to create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

• Develop IEPs, eligibility reports, and special education compliance requirements

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate a commitment to the district’s mission and vision

• Join a collaborative team dedicated to student learning, skill development, and wellbeing

• Manage the special education process from referral to implementation

• Conduct assessments and participate in eligibility and IEP meetings  

• Write and implement IEPs and behavioral intervention plans

• Provide individualized and small group instruction and services to students with disabilities in accordance with their IEPs

• Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure students' success

• Maintain accurate records and documentation to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations 

• Communicate effectively with families to support student growth

Compensation:

• Salary is based on experience in accordance with the certified salary schedule

• Up to 10 steps will granted for verified years of experience
