Reports To: MSHS Building Principal
Qualifications:
Must hold a Type A Teaching Certificate with a 6 - 12 endorsement
Bachelor's Degree, Master's Preferred
Experience with literacy interventions in an RTI/MTSS system
Job Description: The Reading Interventionist is a key member of the middle/high school’s literacy team. This role is responsible for providing individual or small-group instruction to students who are struggling academically in the classroom. This position will help develop literacy skills and increase the reading capabilities through literacy materials, reading programs, and a wide variety of resources and collaboration with teachers, literacy coaches, and building administrators. This position supports student achievement in the area of English Language Arts, with special attention to reading. This position is responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance.
Essential Job Duties:
Provides high-quality, direct instruction to individual students and small groups
Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade-level
Collaborates with administrators and the Literacy Innovation Team to identify individual and small groups of students needing additional support and intervention
Uses identified research-based interventions focused specifically on individual student needs
Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress
Provides data to school teams and participates in decisions about student progress
Communicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progress
Participates in meetings with teachers, administration, and families to discuss student placement and progress
Provides diagnostic assessments for students as needed
Provides input for program development
Supports the implementation of assessment tools and data management systems
Active member of the building Literacy Innovation Team, attending meetings and being an active leader in literacy innovation in the building.
Attends the appropriate trainings to improve knowledge and skills, including conferences
