TITLE: Coordinator of Assessment and Instructional Support
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Coordinator of Assessment and Instructional Support is a key administrative position responsible for overseeing and coordinating the district's comprehensive assessment and Title III programs. This role involves extensive data management and analysis, staff training and supervision, budget preparation, and reporting on educational programs and student progress, all within the Bering Strait School District.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification:
Type T or C Alaska teaching certificate.
Type B Alaska administrative certificate, or enrolled in a program leading to a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
Earned Master's Degree with emphasis in Educational Administration.
Experience:
Minimum of three years of demonstrated successful leadership experience.
Extensive experience in the use of technology and computer programs, specifically Microsoft Excel.
Experience providing staff development for teachers, paraprofessionals, and principals.
Preferred: Experience with Title III Education and ESSA requirements as they pertain to Limited English Proficient (LEP) students.
Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive assessment program, including extensive record keeping, database development, and data analysis.
Knowledge of Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and the ability to accurately calculate its different components.
Demonstrated ability to successfully live and work in rural Alaska.
Ability to regularly lift 20 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Program Coordination & Leadership:
Coordinate district-wide programs in the areas of assessments and Title III.
Coordinate the Title III program, including LEP assessment and training staff members on effective instructional practices.
Supervise and train certificated and classified staff.
Assist in the recruitment and selection of program staff.
Data Management & Reporting:
Develop and prepare data and reports relating to assessments, educational programs, students, and personnel.
Download assessment reports from the web and convert them into a usable format.
Maintain assessment records and train teachers and principals on the use of data in data-driven instructional decisions.
Receive initial AYP reports from DEED, check for accuracy, and correspond with DEED concerning discrepancies.
Prepare and distribute report cards to the public.
Administration & Communication:
Prepare budgets and periodic program/financial reports.
Work effectively with fellow administrators, teachers, students, parents, and community organizations and members.
Attend board meetings and make presentations to the school board as directed.
Travel as directed and as program needs require.
Perform other duties as assigned.

SALARY: Placement on the Administrator's salary schedule
LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: 215 days
