Girls Basketball Head Coach
For the 2026-2027 School Year
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated record of communicating well with teenage athletes, parents, coaches, and administrators.
- Ability to provide a positive learning atmosphere, both on and off the court.
- A willingness to make a personal sacrifice for the benefit of the team and to set a positive example through living a high code of conduct.
- Understanding of the fundamentals, rules, and regulations for the sport of basketball.
- Knowledge of safety procedures.
- Can plan and execute meaningful and effective practices.
- Understanding of the SSD and ASAA guidelines, policies, and rules and commitment to follow them.
- Applicants must be able to meet the Sitka High School schedule of events and practices.
- Preferred, previous head coaching experience at the high school level or higher.
- Once hired, the NFHS fundamentals of coaching course, the Alaska/ASAA State coaching component course, first aid, health and safety course, concussion in sports course, protecting students from abuse course, and the cardiac arrest course, as well as all district paperwork will need to be updated and completed.
