QUALIFICATIONS: |
|
|
1. |
Must possess a High School diploma, or General Educational Development (GED) completion. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred |
|
2. |
Must obtain background clearance through the Alaska Department of Public Safety. As per District Policy AR 4112.5, 4212.5, 4312.5, no person(s) who has ever been convicted, or plead guilty or no contest (including forfeiture of bail) to a crime involving violence or sexual abuse will be hired by the District |
|
3. |
Must meet NCLB Highly Qualified requirements (48 university/college credits, Associates Degree or passing score on the State of AK approved ParaPro Assessment) |
|
4. |
Must be able to demonstrate a sound understanding and implementation of LYSD procedures and protocol |
|
5. |
Must have strong technology skills |
|
6. |
Must have above average communication skills and the ability to work well with and lead others, as needed |
|
7. |
Must be self-motivating and able to work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision |
|
8. |
Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds at varying distances up to fifty (50) feet |
|
9. |
Must have a valid Driver’s License |
|
10. |
Must be willing to perform essential functions, knowledge, and abilities outlined below |

BASIC FUNCTION: |
|
|
Under the direction and with cooperation of the CTE & Residential Director, use leadership and supervisory skills to create a safe, secure and supportive home environment for the district’s KCA students |
|
|
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: |
|
|
1. |
Maintain confidentiality of all student records and files, including test scores and discipline/behavior referrals |
|
2. |
Maintain a record of incidents in the Incident Log |
|
3. |
Guide students toward appropriate behavior and interactions with other students |
|
4. |
Answer phone calls and take messages as necessary |
|
5. |
Establish and maintain a supportive and empathetic relationship with students |
|
6. |
Serve as a resource person, as requested, when meeting with parents/community |
|
7. |
Fill out discipline referrals as necessary |
|
8. |
Make sure windows are shut on first floor, the front door is locked |
|
9. |
Make routine walks around the building to ensure that students are in their rooms and policy is being followed |
|
10. |
Show equity in working with students by being tactful, courteous, fair, and consistent |
|
11. |
Maintain excellent public relations through communications with the general public and district office departments; respond courteously to inquiries, provide information within scope of responsibility, and refer calls as appropriate to school sites, agencies, or personnel |
|
12. |
Maintain healthy and positive work environment |
|
13. |
Model positive personal behavior to promote a positive school culture |
|
14. |
Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information |
|
15. |
Perform other duties as assigned by the CTE & Residential Director or Superintendent/Designee |
