Qualifications:
1. Associate degree or two years of college preferred
2. Two years or more experience in education with background in cross cultural instruction and curriculum development
3. Fluent in Inupiaq preferred
Reports To: Director of Inupiaq Programs
Job Goal: To provide leadership in the ongoing development and improvement of the district's language and culture programs.
Performance Responsibilities:
• Become familiar with resources, videos and materials in storage in the DO
• Facilitate the development of the placed-based science curriculum.
• Sort through cultural materials on hand and in Cyberduck to know and present what's available.
• Coordinate efforts between the Language Knowledge Holders, translators, consultants, and science teachers to assist with the development and implementation of the placed-based science curriculum
• Work with state and local agencies to build partnerships.
• Report to Director of I�upiaq Programs or Superintendent
• Other duties as assigned by Director of I�upiaq Programs or Superintendent
Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board Policy.

The Northwest Arctic Borough covers 38,000 square miles in one of the world's most beautiful remote areas. Much of the region lies north of the Arctic Circle. The surrounding terrain is Arctic tundra, dotted with hundreds of lakes and rivers. Within the region are several protected land areas including Noatak National Park and Preserve, Kobuk Valley National Park, Selawik National Wildlife Refuge, Great Kobuk Sand Dunes, Cape Krusenstern National Monument, Gates of the Arctic National Preserve, Bering Land Bridge National Preserve, and Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge. Wildlife is abundant, with caribou, moose, bear, salmon and sheefish constituting a significant portion of the local diet.
