The Kodiak Island Borough School District has the following vacancies for the 2026-2027 school year:
Auditorium & Community Schools Coordinator (KAP)
Location: DWS
Hours: 8 hrs/day, 5 days/week (12 months)
Salary: Salaried Entry Range A $73,718.27 DOE

Position Summary:
The Auditorium & Community Schools Coordinator is responsible for the administration and daily operation of the District Auditorium and the logistical coordination of the Community Schools Program. The Coordinator manages facility scheduling, registrations, communications, invoicing, billing, facility access, event logistics, and operational support to ensure efficient delivery of Community Schools programs and successful use of District facilities. The position serves as the primary point of contact for participants, instructors, facility users, community organizations, and the public regarding scheduling, logistics, and operational needs while providing exceptional customer service and support.
Work Year/Schedule
Work schedules follow district administrative calendar. Evening, weekend, and extended hours may be required based on operational needs, deadlines, or district events.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Work is performed in a standard office, school, or district facility environment. The employee must be able to sit, stand, and move throughout the workday; operate standard office and technology equipment; and communicate effectively in person and electronically.
The Position requires the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and infrequently, up to 50 pounds. Travel between district sites, including remote locations, may be required.
Terms of Employment
Salary and benefits are established in accordance with the KAP agreement. Employment is governed by district policies, administrative regulations and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district procedures and the KAP agreement.

Essential Responsibilities
1. Coordinate the day-to-day logistical operations of the Community Schools Program, including scheduling, registration, facility assignments, communications, and operational support.
2. Coordinate District auditorium operations, performances, assemblies, concerts, public events, rentals, graduation activities, and special events to ensure efficient scheduling and successful event execution.
3. Develop, maintain, and publish Community Schools schedules, program calendars, facility reservations, registration information, and event communications.
4. Coordinate logistical support for Community Schools instructors by arranging classroom assignments, facility access, equipment needs, schedules, and operational communications necessary for successful program delivery.
5. Coordinate the scheduling of temporary event staff, volunteers, and operational support personnel assigned to auditorium events and Community Schools activities, as directed.
6.Analyze operational performance and implement systems and process improvements that increase organizational efficiency, customer service, fiscal responsibility, and operational effectiveness.
7. Serve as the District's primary customer service contact for Community Schools participants, instructors, renters, community organizations, vendors, and the public by responding to inquiries, resolving logistical concerns, and coordinating operational needs.
8. Coordinate facility scheduling, room reservations, technology needs, custodial services, maintenance support, security, and event logistics for Community Schools programs and District events.
9. Coordinate Community Schools registrations, facility use agreements, invoicing, billing, fee collection, deposits, financial reconciliation, and operational records in accordance with District policies and procedures.
10. Coordinate facility access, key deployment, security procedures, classroom assignments, furniture setup, equipment logistics, and building access for Community Schools instructors, contractors, participants, and authorized facility users.
11. Prepare promotional materials, Community Schools catalogs, website updates, social media announcements, newsletters, and public communications that promote District programming and facility opportunities.
12. Collaborate with District departments, schools, municipalities, community organizations, vendors, and partner agencies to ensure efficient delivery of Community Schools programs and successful facility operations.
13. Monitor facility usage, program participation, customer feedback, operational costs, and financial records; prepare reports and recommendations supporting budgeting, scheduling, and continuous improvement.
14. Ensure compliance with District policies, facility use procedures, insurance requirements, safety regulations, emergency procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local laws governing public facility use.
15. Assist with emergency response, facility issues, event problem-solving, customer concerns, and operational decisions while exercising sound judgment and maintaining a professional public image of the District.
16. Serve as the on-site District coordinator for auditorium events by implementing emergency response procedures, coordinating communications with District administration and emergency responders as necessary, documenting incidents, and assisting with post-incident follow-up and operational review.
17. Foster a culture of professionalism, collaboration, exceptional customer service, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout Community Schools and auditorium operations.

• Knowledge of community education logistics, facility scheduling, event coordination, and public customer service.

• Knowledge of budgeting, invoicing, billing, cash handling procedures, and financial record keeping.
• Ability to prepare reports, correspondence, promotional materials, and operational communications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling software, registration systems, financial software, website management tools, and communication platforms.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism while representing the District.
Minimum Qualifications
• Associate's degree in Business Administration, Recreation Management, Event Management, Public Administration, Office Administration, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience.
• Three (3) years of experience coordinating events, facilities, customer service operations, community programs, or administrative operations.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating schedules, registrations, logistics, financial transactions, and multiple concurrent projects.
• Experience working with invoicing, billing, purchasing, deposits, and financial reconciliation.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups and provide exceptional customer service.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and computerized scheduling, registration, and financial systems.
• Valid Alaska driver's license or ability to obtain one within a reasonable period of employment.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible hours to support Community Schools programming and District events.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Recreation Management, Public Administration, Education, Communications, or a related field.
• Experience coordinating Community Schools, community education, recreation, performing arts, conference centers, or public facility operations.
• Experience working in a public school district or other governmental organization.
• Experience with facility scheduling software, registration systems, financial management systems, and public communications.
• Experience coordinating large public events, community partnerships, and multi-user facility operations.
