Summary or Purpose
The District-wide Food and Nutrition Services Coordinator leads the North Slope Borough School District Child Nutrition Program and its daily school meal operations. Supervises staff; oversees menus, compliance, budgets, procurement, reporting, food safety, inventory, and freight; and works with schools, District departments, vendors, and the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development (DEED). The Coordinator solves operational problems and maintains reliable meal service across remote communities.

Education and/or Experience:
· Master’s degree in a related field, preferred.
· One (1) year of experience with a School Food Authority, DEED, USDA program reviews, food bids and contracts, federal funds, remote logistics, multi-site operations, preferred.
· Supervisory or managerial experience in food services or a related sector.
Language Skills:
· Ability to read, interpret, develop, and apply State, Federal, and District procedures, policies, and regulations.
· Ability to provide oral and written information effectively and respond to questions from the Board, leadership team, District staff, outside agencies, and the community.

Mathematical Skills:
· Add, subtract up to seven-digit numbers, and multiply and divide using 10s and 100s.
· Perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
· Ability to obtain a valid Alaska Driver’s License is highly required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Program leadership and staffing. Direct districtwide breakfast, lunch, and other approved programs. In collaboration with site principals, supervise and develop Head Cooks and assigned staff; coordinate coverage and training; work with principals on site and personnel concerns.
· Compliance and accountability. Administer applicable USDA Child Nutrition Programs; interpret federal, state, and District requirements; maintain procedures and internal controls; prepare for DEED reviews and audits; and oversee meal counts, claims, records, corrective action, and PrimeroEdge or approved systems.
· Financial management and procurement. Develop and monitor the budget and nonprofit school food service account. Track participation, reimbursement, costs, inventory, and waste. Coordinate federal funds documentation, purchasing, invoices, bids, contracts, and vendor performance with Business Services and other departments.
· Menus and meal service. Coordinate compliant, nutritious, appealing menus suited to student needs, cultural relevance, cost, product availability, and remote operations. Review recipes, production records, substitutions, meal pattern documentation, and special dietary accommodations.
· Food safety and logistics. Oversee HACCP-based procedures, sanitation, permits, receiving, storage, inventory, and temperature controls. Coordinate freight, deliveries, inter-site transfers, and contingency meal service; work with Maintenance and Operations on kitchen facilities and equipment.
· Monitoring and partnerships. Visit sites, train staff, verify corrective action, and improve program practices. Serve as a liaison with DEED, vendors, administrators, and District departments; resolve issues within delegated authority and elevate matters requiring executive, HR, legal, or fiscal review. Prepare leadership and Board updates when requested.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to travel within and outside of the North Slope Borough School District. The employee must be willing and able to fly in small and large commuter planes.

Benefits
Range and Minimum Salary Grade: $114,335 - $137,226 (prorated) based on experience.
