Qualifications:
- Alaska Type B Administrative Certification, required
- School leadership/principal experience required; 3 years or more preferred
- Building and maintaining a strong positive school culture in service of students, required
- Successful experience with providing, creating, and supervising student activities and engagement experiences, preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form with all levels of administration, other GCSD personnel, parents/guardians and community members/businesses.
- Experience working with sensitive and confidential material and compliance with laws relating to confidentiality.
- Demonstrated experience in support of rural communities and Native American students, preferred
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Job Goal:
The Residential Life Assistant Principal will work in partnership with and at the direction of the Residential Principal to lead the overall implementation and delivery of a robust and comprehensive residential "in loco parentis" experience for all students attending Galena Interior Learning Academy (GILA). This will require collaboration with school and district administration, parents/guardians, and community entities for complementary and wrap-around services to maximize student success, academic achievement, and personal growth. Our GILA Residential Life program supports students outside of school hours, during the evenings, weekends, and days when school is not in session, August to May.
