Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with a teaching certificate, required
- Successful school experience as a classroom teacher, or with residential youth programs as a teacher, required
- Experience working with a team in a strong positive school culture to maximize student success, required
- Strong instructional skills and ability to support students through academic and social challenges, preferred
- Experience working with diverse populations, preferred
- Ability to obtain a valid Alaska Driver's License, required
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Job Goal:
The Resident Advisor/Co-Teacher position at Galena Interior Learning Academy (GILA) is a fulltime professional position that works daily with the residential school students. The Resident Advisors/Co-Teachers are the primary point of contact for our residential school students afterschool hours (evenings, weekends, non-school days). They provide a positive climate and strong relationships to support student academic and personal growth, resiliency, and success throughout their high school experience.
