The Sitka School District is accepting applications for substitute teachers. The candidate must be dependable, reliable, flexible and available on short notice. Ability to follow written lesson plans and flexible schedules are essential to the position. Teaching experience is not required. The pay is $200 per day if you are an Alaska certified teacher or $150 per day if not certified.
Non-certified applicants must complete a background check and fingerprints once an application is complete. Background checks can be completed at the Public Safety Academy on Sawmill Creek Rd. The Sitka School District is a friendly community located in the beautiful City and Borough of Sitka, Alaska. With a population of around 8,000 the town is situated in the heart of the Tongass National Rain Forest on the Gulf of Alaska. There are five Schools: Xóots Elementary School (PK-1), Kéet Gooshí Héen Elementary School (2-5), Blatchley Middle School (6-8), Sitka High School (9-12), and Pacific High School (9-12 alternative).
