Qualifications:
Valid Alaska Secondary Teacher’s Certificate
Highly Qualified in Secondary Education
Ability to plan, organize, develop, prepare and deliver under minimal supervision, educational programs to students’ assigned subject(s) and/or grade levels(s) and students’ individual abilities.
Attention to detail, good communication, critical thinking skills and writing skills
Experience and understanding of best teaching methods and can explain and demonstrate effective use of such practices in a classroom setting.
Experience and understanding the importance of ongoing formative and summative assessments. Ability to use the data to improve instruction and learning for students. Assessments might include portfolios, scoring guides, running records, observations, and analytical and contextual, plus others.
Proficient technology skills in commonly used software programs including Office, e-mail, Internet, etc. that can be demonstrated on Macs.
Ability to use data to improve instruction and learning for students.
Knowledge and understanding of Alaska grade level content and standards.

The Denali Borough School District (DBSD) includes three K-12 schools in the communities of Anderson, Healy (Tri-Valley School), and Cantwell. The District also operates a state-wide correspondence school, Denali PEAK. The offices and majority of the students enrolled in PEAK are in the Anchorage/Wasilla area.
