TITLE: EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY FACILITATOR

POSITION SUMMARY

The Educational Technology Facilitator supports the Bering Strait School District's use of technology by fostering innovative and effective use of technology, and providing professional development and training for staff and students. The role includes comprehensive system and device management, such as creating and managing accounts for Google Workspace and Microsoft, deploying devices like MacBooks, iPads, and Chromebooks, and assisting with systems like PowerSchool. Furthermore, the facilitator maintains network infrastructure, security cameras, implements Technology Protection Measures, and manages district-managed social media pages and the Employee Computer Purchase Program.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Certification

• Bachelor Degree in Education.

• Current Type T Alaska Teaching Certificate required.

• Technology-focused certifications preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of two years of experience in education, instructional technology, or IT support.

• Proven success in integrating technology into educational environments.

• Experience managing and supporting staff and students with district technology tools and systems.

• Experience working in a cross-cultural setting is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Technical Skills

• Proficiency with macOS, Chromebooks, and iPads, including hardware repairs and software troubleshooting.

• Experience managing PowerSchool SIS, JAMF, GoGuardian, and Apptegy Thrillshare and Rooms.

• Familiarity with Google Workspace, and Microsoft account management.

• Hands-on experience with interactive technologies, including SMART Boards.

• Knowledge of VoIP systems, copier maintenance, and printer configuration.

• Skills in website management and content creation for district platforms, including Facebook and YouTube.

• Basic networking knowledge, including internet connectivity troubleshooting and device management.

• Familiarity with digital security tools like Malwarebytes or equivalent solutions.

• Experience with NFHS camera and event creation.

Additional Requirements

• Strong organizational and communication skills to support a wide range of stakeholders.

• Ability and willingness to travel to remote sites as required to support schools and provide training.

• Capacity to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds of IT equipment occasionally.

• Commitment to continuous learning and adapting to emerging educational technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support the district’s Technology Vision by fostering innovative and effective use of technology.

• Provide professional development and training for teachers and staff in technology integration and GoGuardian uses for classroom management and online safety.

• Collaborate with site-based Technology Liaisons to troubleshoot and resolve IT-related issues.

• Understand the network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and troubleshoot as needed.

• Implement and monitor Technology Protection Measures to safeguard district systems and users.

• Create and manage staff and student accounts for Google Workspace and Microsoft.

• Assist in the management and support of the PowerSchool student information system.

• Deploy and manage MacBooks, iPads, and Chromebooks for staff and students.

• Administer and maintain Allworx VoIP phone systems.

• Support staff and student access to district curricula and resources through Clever.

• Monitor and maintain security cameras across the district.

• Oversee the Employee Computer Purchase Program to ensure seamless participation and support.

• Maintain district-managed social media pages and assist with content creation for public platforms.

• Collaborate on copier and printer maintenance, ensuring reliable operations at all sites.

• Maintain accurate technology inventory and provide remote or on-site support as needed.
