Position Summary
Provides behavioral support to students with special needs within a supervised school setting. Assists with creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.
Essential Functions
● Conducts behavior assessments and evaluations to identify causes of student behavioral challenges.
● Develops and implements behavior intervention plans to address disruptive or challenging behaviors.
● Assists students individually and in small groups; models and teaches social skills, self-regulation techniques, and coping strategies.
● Collaborates with teachers, specialists, and families to assess and monitor student progress and adjust support strategies as needed.
● Participates in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings and provides guidance on behavior management strategies.
● Provides behavior management training and workshops for staff and parents.
● Maintains complete and accurate records of student behavior, progress, and interventions; prepares and presents reports to school teams and parents.
● Builds and fosters effective working relationships with others.
● Enhances professional development and maintains knowledge by conducting research; attending seminars, educational workshops, classes, and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; and conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.
● Contributes to a team effort to achieve goals and deliver successful outcomes.
● Performs other related duties, consistent with the scope, level, and minimum qualifications of the position, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
● Master's degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or closely related field.
● One (1) year of progressive work experience in behavior management in a classroom or related environment.
● BCBA certification recommended or enrolled in a BCBA program.
● Experience with Inupiaq language, history and culture preferred.
● A combination of relevant education and related work experience may be considered.
● Valid driver’s license is required when operating a vehicle for work-related purposes.
● Must successfully complete pre-employment requirements.

● Office software and industry-related applications, including spreadsheets, databases, and industry-related applications in a Windows environment.

Physical/Emotional Demands, Work Environment, Equipment Usage
Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in a classroom environment and occasionally outdoors where incumbent may be exposed to varying temperature and weather conditions. Work involves frequent exposure to dust, fumes, airborne particles, and/or allergens. Work involves occasional exposure to high risk/potentially dangerous situations; excessive noise; infectious disease; and hostile or violent individuals. Work requires the use of protective clothing, equipment, devices, or materials. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common. Travel may be required for training, meetings, conferences, presentations, and other events.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; stand; walk; move throughout the classroom and school; use hands to manipulate, touch, or grasp objects and materials; reach with hands and arms; communicate effectively; and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
